STUDENT FOR CHRIST AMERICA

GOD CENTERED. BIBLE CENTERED. CHURCH CENTERED.

ABOUT

STUDENT FOR CHRIST

EST. 1948

We hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Larger and Shorter Catechisms as our doctrinal standards. Our aim is the establishment of the Reformed Faith and life so that we may be the salt and light of the earth. Our mission is: The establishment of the churches in America according to the Reformed Faith through nationwide campus evangelization. The establishment of the World church according to the Reformed Faith through world evangelization. The principles of life are: God-Centered, Bible-Centered, Church-Centered.

SFC Principles

The Principles of Life

God-Centered: “Glory of God”

The glory of God is our joy and our purpose. Glory of God is not merely a catchall phrase for SFC. We make it a conscious factor in every aspect of SFC ministries. By beholding the glory of God, we seek to allow God to become our driving power. In every step, we ask what would be pleasing to God, and not to men.

Bible-Centered: “Whole Counsel of God”

We believe that nothing but a faithful study, preaching, teaching, and application of the Word of God will lead us to a saving knowledge ofJesus Christ and His reign upon our lives. In each of our SFC chapters, a leader who is trained in the Word of God leads Bible study and discipleship. As these leaders faithfully nurture the students with God’s Word, students are transformed by the power of the gospel, so that their minds are renewed and their hearts are set afire.

Church-Centered: “Church of God”

We are a church-centered movement that is governed by church, sent by church, and that seeks to lead students to church, so that they may be parts of the glorious body of Christ, who is the Head of the Church. SFC is an extension of the church and recognizes the importance of growing in the body of Christ. To this end, we instill churchmanship to the students and link them with Bible-centered local churches.

SFC Standards

Our Standards

Sola Gratia (Grace Alone)

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God" (Ephesians 2:8). The main content of a Christian’s life is the grace of God. It is because God’s grace fills us everyday that we are able to live in faith for his glory. It is by God’s grace alone that we are saved, that we can enjoy life, and that we can have faith.

Sola Fide (Faith Alone)

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith” (Romans 1:16-17). A child of God is to live by faith alone. Faith alone is the foundation upon which we stand. All that we do is rooted in faith in God to fulfill his promises, which are contained in Scripture, to us. By faith we are saved, by faith we live, and by faith we will be made holy.

Sola Scriptura (Our Standard)

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work" (2 Timothy 3:16). The standard by which a child of God ought to live is scripture alone. Hence, it is important for a Christian to dwell upon the Word of God. For “how can a young man keep his way pure?” asks King David. “By living according to [God’s] word.”

Solus Christus (Our Savior)
"And there is salvation in no one else, for there is noother name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). If anyone is saved, it is on the basis of Christ alone. This truth separates Christianity from all falsehood: Sinners are saved in Christ alone.

Soli Deo Gloria (Our Purpose)
"To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen" (1 Timothy 1:17). The purpose of every child of God must be to give glory only to God in all that he or she does. This includes our academics, our social life, our future – all areas of our life!

Coram Deo (Our Attitude)
"Hide your face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me" (Psalms 51:9-11). A child of God must remember that everyday he or she lives before God who bears witness to all that he or she does. We must keep in mind that God knows of all things and that he is present everywhere.
